Does anyone think we will have even a slight chance against Chapel Hill this weekend? I'm losing my mind here thinking about it! We can't lose to those guys after the season that we have had this year. I have a feeling they will pay us back for last year. Oh well. We'll see....
Why not? My freshman year we only won 3 games but one of those was against a ranked unx.
I think we win. Wilson only has to outscore Barth.
have to take care of the ball. state is dead last in the acc in turnover margin (something like 110th nationally), and unc has forced the most turnovers in conference.
The only way I could see us winning is in a shootout; our defense certainly can't be counted on to make any stops.
Sad to say, we'll get spanked. Pianalto and Highsmith will likely have career days on Saturday. The only hope I see is being aggressive on defense and risk a few big plays (which we tend to give up a few regardless of "bend don't break" zone), in hopes of creating pressure on Yates. Hopefully he'll throw a few balls to the red team. I don't see how we will score more than 20 or so, given their ability to pressure with 4 or 5 rushers and the speed at LB and ends (keeping Wilson from getting the edge in a scramble). VT ate us up for the most part, but had be held on to some passes it could have been a much more productive day for the offense - my point is UNX defense IMHO is head and shoulders above VT.
Hope I'm wrong!!!!
I don't think our defense can stop anyone, that's been proven pretty much the entire season. I don't think we can even stop UNC, whose offense is miserable, but does have some athletes. So really, to have a chance we're going to have to try to outscore them in a good old fashioned shootout. I think RW throws for 400 and we put up a ton of points, but this will be the game to send Archer packing after we give up about 40 to UNC. We're going to fight like hell, but at some point you have to stop someone. This week would be a good time to start trying.
Don't lose your mind over it, it's not that big a deal. I think we have a good chance. We have played some good teams fairly tough, even though we lost in the end. The players read all the junk and understand. Even if they're not fully into the rivalry, they are atheletes and want to win, not be humiliated. But moreso, I think for all the guys that have been knocked out this year, for Coach Bible, for the Seniors, for a positive exit from this year and entrance to next, and maybe for the fans, they will find a way to win.
Outside of Butch and the team, their fans are just half into Football anyway, even with the year they are having. It's Basketball time.
Wow. 2 days since anyone has said anything on this subject. Shows everyone how "excited" we are to watch the game. However, I'm starting to get my tailgate stuff together.
Who is our third string QB now that Glennon is out? Anyone know?
Imhoff will be the second, and OHNO will be the 3rd stringer.
I like the chances of State hanging around, and as long as they are within one score anything can happen. Baker and Eugene will need to be huge, as will Bryan. For a change, our front seven should have a say as the Holes like the power run game.
I hope we see an ambush gameplan tomorrow, if the boys can get a 2 score lead by hook or crook early on, the odds increase. Auburn got close against Bama, and their tactics were the best recipe for an upset. Show the wrinkles before the set-ups, and steal one on special teams. And leave no card up the sleeve.
So, is the poll on the front page, points or touchdowns? Just kidding. Hey, Looking forward to blogging with you folks tomorrow. It's been fun this year sharing the misery. I may get to go to a couple of games next year as we will be living much closer. Maybe tickets will be easier to get after this year's performance..... I doubt it.
If you'd have told me back in August that less than half my tailgating group of around 15 would be at this game, and I'd be unable to GIVE away my extra ticket, I'd have called you the world's biggest idiot. Here it is, the eve of the game we all had circled on our calendars back in August and only the locals in my group are heading out for the game, and we'll have a half-dozen unused tickets between us. And I'm jealous of the ones not going because I already expect to waste my day.
You win, Lee Fowler. Well played.
Wow, LRM, that's sad. You are a truly brave warrior. I raise my cocktail to you, hope things turn out for the better and the dedication pays off.
It was very depressing Wednesday listening to Adam & Joe practically...no, not practically...very openly BEGGING folks to call in and start some shit about the game tomorrow. What they got was not much. It was sad.
What the hell happened? This year was very promising. A great opportunity for us. In fact, look at Carolina's season. That's basically what we should have been doing, had we stayed healthy and some luck went our way. As it is...no such luck.
What did we do to piss off God to make us endure such a nightmare of a year? 12 season ending injuries sammiched between losing our best player to a car accident before taking a single snap and now our O-coordinator is in for the fight of his life with cancer. Ok...we get it. You don't like us.
I don't like making excuses, and I haven't made any this year. But if we lose tomorrow...I think we have one. That hurts to admit...but, really? I don't know of another team that has dealt with the shit we have and is in line for an even decent bowl let alone a winning season.
However, I will say, if God has any sense of humor, we'll beat those sonsabitches tomorrow. They can all go to hell. I hate Carolina. With all my heart. I hate the school, the assholes that run it, the bastards that pull for them, and everything associated with it.
Red pants = loss.
Defense already looks like piss.
3, lucky
Lots of nice arm tackling whiffs on that drive.
I feel sorry for the UNC fans who bought tickets to the game in the North End Zone, its the damn student section.
Biggest thing about that drive is it kept RW on the sideline. We can't have any turnovers today.
wilson panicked
I'm afraid a key thing to note today is who our backup quarterback is. Does anyone know?
Haha!
Lucky break on the fumble into the end zone. Take advantage of this Russell and let's have a nice long drive.
Gotta throw some good passes, Pack.
i guess we are not going to throw the ball today
3 and out, wow, we are good
We can't handle UNC's d-line. Dominating us.
I predict a blocked punt today.
so their strength is better than our strength? Its gonna be 41-10 the other way if Yates only needs 50 yards for a score each time.
