Add Steven Hauschka missing the game winning FG in a crucial game for the Ravens. Charlie Brown syndrome for alums, too.

Women's soccer was up 2-0 on Maryland in the 81st minute.

Maryland scores 2 goals to send into OT.

In OT, we lose on an own goal.

I wonder how this weekend will go for the Wolfpack?

Don't know if you saw it, but the Technician ran a big story on athletics Friday called, "A Sorry State"

    http://www.technicianonline.com/sports/a-sorry-state-1.2034113

On the brink of the month of November, with fall in full bloom and ACC regular season play upon us, coaches, players and fans alike are forced to examine the status – the good, the bad, and the ugly of Wolfpack athletics. Thus far, this season has been filled with surprises, disappointments, and some of the same old N.C. State shenanigans that have remained constant throughout recent history.

With just three nationally ranked teams - men’s soccer, men’s golf and men’s cross-country - State fans find their athletic program yet again somewhere in between lackluster and unsatisfactory. These three programs are the sole bright stars in a rather dark, cloudy sky that is N.C. State athletics.

Good for the Technician. Let the students join in on the fuss.

Enough students, fans, alumni, etc. raising a stink and calling this athletics program out for what it is...even if they aren't big time donors...will certainly start making someone take notice and address some things. NC State cannot continue to ignore this problem much longer.

Technician also provided a mid-season report card on the fall sports:

The rankings are far too lenient.

How low are expectations at NC State? A program that is 7-7-2 overall and 2-5-1 in the ACC gets a B...and an 0-8 (ACC) volleyball team that has only won TWO SETS in conference play doesn't even get a failing grade, but gets a D+?

    Football: C-
    Men’s Soccer: A
    Women’s Soccer: B
    Volleyball: D+
    Cross Country A-
    Women's golf: B
    Men's Tennis: B-
    Women’s Tennis: B-
    Men's Golf: A-

Technician can not fail volleyball for fear of being called racists. They could lose every game this year, and would still pass.

Why bother giving them a PLUS on the side of the D?

Everyone remembers what happened last time the Technician complained about the Volleyball Coach.... The big race card was pulled so it should be no suprise they took the weak way out of that grade. Sad when Admin wont even back up the voice of the university....

LOL! What in God's name does the Administration (Athletics, or otherwise) EVER "back up"? That would require guts and an ability to analyze a situation and take a position.

The only position at NC State is called 'status quo'.

I don't remember the picture, but the coach could have had a legitimate gripe. Sometimes things are done in poor taste and can be offensive, god knows I sometimes am.

But clearly she is too stupid to express herself and in her indignation has essentially alienated the only media in the world who just might be willing to give her an interview.

    NC State volleyball rating system:

    A - win 3 conference games
    B - Win 1 conference game
C - Manage to actually win a few sets in the losses.
D+ - 0-10 in conference, (+ means they showed up on time for the match)
F - Failure to appear at match, team forfeits

“We will keep fighting. It is going to happen.”

My god, she totally knows what to say to make ol lee happy. Do they have a training session for incoming NC State coaches to teach them this?

Here's some volleyball stats to brighten your Monday.

Our ACC record in volleyball in the ten seasons while Lee Fowler has been AD now stands at 6-170. That is not a typo.

Seven ACC teams have 6 or more ACC wins THIS SEASON.

Our ACC record for fall sports with win/loss records is 4-22-2.
    Football: 0-3
    Volleyball: 0-10
    M Soccer: 2-3-1
    W Soccer: 2-6-1

And as best as I can tell, the rifle team is 0-4 in the GARC.

This looks like a peak year for both Men & Women soccer.

^ indeed this is a peak year for m's soccer. (I do not feel it is warranted to criticize this years team) I would say being ranked all season, and being competetive with the top teams in the country is a reasonable "peak year", as long as they occur once every 4 years rather than once every 14.....and avoid the bottom of the barrel seasons of past. I probably care about soccer much more than 99% of the people that watch these boards, and I am happy with this year's soccer team.....even with my posted gripes against Tarantini.
