According to the header on the site, a "new look, new provider, new GoPack" is on the way in three days. Good to know we might be graduating from a site written from an HTML for Dummies book.
Anyone know is the new administration was behind this?
I would think so. And if so, it's a great first step. Relatively easy to initiate and follow through on, but it makes a statement. Wolfpack Unlimited indeed.
I just might check it out once there is a real site to sample.
Are they firing all the writers and editors to? I'd like to check my athletics website just once after a game and actually see something other then "Results: TBD".
I remember discussing this a while back. GoPack is switching to the College Sports Network. The same thing that nearly every other BCS school has. Sorry if the name is not entirely accurate.
Anything is better than what we have now on GoPack.com, that site is terrible..ECU uses CSTV for their Athletic site, and it is a good one.
Tim Peeler is a very good writer and by far the biggest asset on GoPack.com. When you talk about wanting new writers, I sure hope you are not throwing Peeler with the rest.
^Nope. Mostly an editing thing and who chooses what is a priority. Really, it's the lack-of-writing that I hate. Many other athletic websites have post-game articles and analysis similar to any other sports outlet. I understand this is a university page, but it would be nice to see the same. Peeler is one guy... with other jobs to do, as well. Someone needs to get some more people there (or hire some student help).
Someone should've recommended the O3 guys.
Run by CBS sports and it has been in the works for over a year...or so I read.
One of the many enhancements is the "Wolfpack Unlimited" feedback tool Yow promised on the day she was hired, giving fans a means to communicate with her office. An athletics department employee will be responsible for answering all questions, comments and suggestions sent through the feedback tool.
(Bold added for emphasis)
I still say they're gonna end up regretting doing that if TOB loses 3 or 4 straight at some point.
Holy crap Grinch, that page is actually really well done... I think some designer must have hacked the gopack.com ftp and uploaded his/her own stuff...
NC State is also now on Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/ncstateathletics?v=wall
More internet strangeness! It's like a Hitchcock movie all of the sudden!
Greetings Wolfpack Club members! Our website, http://www.wolfpackclub.com, is getting a new look. The site will temporarily be under construction starting this Thursday, July 29th. You will still be able to log into your account to view your information and/or make a donation by visiting wolfpackclub.com during this time. Your username and password will remain the same.
Don't forget Friday, August 1st is the deadline for contributions to count towards basketball priority.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and look forward to unveiling the new and improved wolfpackclub.com. Check back with us soon to explore the new site. In the meantime, for any inquiries you may reach us at 919-865-1500.
Thank you for your patience during this time, and as always, Go Pack!
Of course most of you already know this, but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway, just for good measure.
"Holy crap Grinch, that page is actually really well done... I think some designer must have hacked the gopack.com ftp and uploaded his/her own stuff..."
I agree, but I'm having trouble pulling up a profile of Chuck Kornegay..
Next they'll send an email that Statefansnation is being updated...
The new gopack.com is up and running!
It's online and I have to say, the site is absolutely fantastic! Still feels a *bit* cluttered at times, but that's pretty standard for Athletic websites with this much content.
Just for some background, I work in Internet Advertising for one of the biggest players in the industry. This is what I spend all day everyday doing, so you'll have to forgive my interest in something seemingly so trivial. Oh yeah, and don't hate on the ads, it pays for the web... :)
Anyway, I have to say, this site is really really well done. For example, check out the Inside WolfPack Sports on Jarvis Williams on the main page News stories. It's actually correctly implemented, embedded video in the flash news section that doesn't lag, has appropriate sound/video quality and is something I'm actually interested in. Scrolling ticker at the bottom with updated scores and upcoming scheduled games. Hell even the Schedule/Results pages are interactive and surprisingly quick and responsive.
And then check this out, click on the 'Ford GameDay Central' tab on the far right... that's well done as well. Not too thrilled about the standard scroll bar list for the 'Team Links' or the 'Recent News' boxes... but it can't all be perfect :)
Sorry I'm geeking out about this a bit, but it's nice to finally, FINALLY have a decent gopack website up and running.
lookin' good
The cool multimedia packhoops thing is gone though, as far as I can tell :(
naw theres a link to it at the bottom of this page under "the Stage is Set"

Well, they've trashed their archives during the redesign. I had a number of articles bookmarked for an entry that I'm working on and the stories simply aren't there anymore. The links are broken and the searches return no hits.
Oh well, you'll just have to trust me.
After MANY years of avoiding the crap that was Go Pack I like the changes.
Hopefully the sign of a "new sheriff".
I doubt DY was involved in the changes but I do look at her hiring as a positive.
By the same I liked TOB's comments it the interview that was posted on the blog.
I see better days ahead.
I just visited the new site and here's the first thing that when through my head:
What the F#$@ was that?... Did I just get laid?
F.G. reference for those in Fiason. I graduated with some guys that went into web design/hosting/networking and they've been crying for quality like this for years.
The new site is pretty cool. Definitely one of the better athletic pages in recent memory. Clean, eye-catching, and easy to navigate.
packfanistan, if you mean gopack.com/packhoops, that's still there. As far as the archives, try going to the sport most applicable and hit 'archives' on the top right; looks like they have articles archived back to the 01/02 seasons.
Interesting side note, the 'Canes also updated their site not too long ago, if I'm not mistaken. I like the new gopack better, but this is eerily similar.
Wow, the new AD has really got the ball rolling. I'm amazed they're already taking steps to update the Pack's online presence. The new design is definitely an improvement over the ugly one that we had to use before. Hopefully more small things like this will improve State's image across the board.
In all fairness to Fowler, this was supposedly started a year ago... Though if Yow wasn't here, who knows how long it would be before the changes were actually implemented.
Is it just me and my computer, or is the site a little pink?
Thursday, July 29th; Friday, August 1st
Anyone else notice the WPC seems to have dropped the last two days of July from this year's calendar? Maybe they're in a hurry for pre-season practice to get started?
