The commercial, shown in the first break of halftime, featured a will.i.am remix of the Who song "My Generation." The commercial was for flo.tv. I'm sure you'll be able to see it on youtube soon.

I caught that too... my favorite commercial this year.
YouTube - about 0:28 mark, I'm sure a better quality one will be up soon though.

The biggest difference between most of schools that have won NCAA tournaments and NC State: the 1983 National Championship team is still, to date, regarded as the best Cinderella story in the history of the college game.

I'm a class of 2010 guy and yeah, it sucks big ones that it happened FOUR years before I was born.
I feel like I am very educated on my NCSU Basketball history and it truly depresses me to know how high we used to be and see where we've been the last 20 years. We literally haven't one an ACC tournament title in my LIFETIME, and I graduate this year... Sad... very sad...

Glad someone posted this. I noticed it in the commercial as well. I believe there were only about 3 sporting events that were noted in their recap of great historical moments (I can't remember the other ones). I think that speaks volumes about the meaning of that championship win. It's what separates NC State from being relegated to another of the teams that won championships once upon a time, but have done nothing lately. It's a championship whose story is still remembered fondly 27 years later by more than just NC State fans. Couple that with a player like David Thompson and there's a reason for NC State basketball to have enough leftover pride that we can still hold our heads high to an extent and demand more than what we've gotten in more recent history. It transcends typical levels of success which allows the program to still be considered top 25 historically despite recent failures (http://www.statefansnationforums.com/topic.php?id=1089).
