Can someone tell me again how you hire Mike Archer with the stats on his previous teams so bad? Its cant just be that TOB is a system guy can it?

Where is that facebook page about archer?

We could be looking for a new football coach the same year we will be hiring a basketball coach. That is if anyone in the administration gives a shit anymore.

^^Basically, I'm not concerned about RW going to MLB.

I first saw this and thought, they're moving Wilson to middle linebacker? Anyway, I think looking at a winning record in his fourth season will be tough. I hope we can turn it around, but I won't have any lofty expectations.

For the life of me, I don't see more than 6 wins out of that schedule, and that would require us to win EVERY game against teams roughly at our level, and history shows we always lay an egg or two every season. I think we could go 4-0 out of conference and 2-6 in the ACC. Our conference schedule is the most brutal part of it.

Whatever the schedule, TOB needs to win at least 7 games to be able to plausibly argue that the program is on track. Don't care how likely that appears - it is what it is.

And if a guy like TOB can't win here, we might as well give up football. Or resign ourselves to being the Duke of the Atlantic Division.

My thoughts on the structure of our schedule:

*I'm glad we didn't front-load August like we did last season; four in a row in that August heat is just too much.
*It's nice to have three home games in October -- best month weather-wise for football around here.
*I'm not thrilled about ending our home schedule the second weekend of November, but it's nice to finally have an away game Thanksgiving weekend.
*I guess the Carolina Thanksgiving weekend return game was just too dangerous for everyone's preseason Coastal favorite.

Cincinatti is losing will be with out Pike and Kelly....

    Sept. 16 CINCINNATI (Thurs-ESPN) 7:30 pm--W

Did you not see Collaros play last year? He was their most dynamic player... There was legitimate talk that Pike might not get his starting position back once healthy. Here's what Collaros did in the 4 games he started or got significant playing time:

    83 of 106 (78%), 1233 yds, 8 TD's, 1 Int, with another 193 yds and 2 TD's rushing.

No way you can objectively assume we beat Cincy.

There's only one 'sure' win on the entire schedule, Western Carolina. Barring some sort of magical run, 6 or 7 wins is tops for the Wolfpack in 2010.

however, they lost their coach, so don't just assume they are going to be the same team. Cincy got lucky a lot last year in their final minutes, especially in BE play, (except the last second of the texas game) so don't be writing us off completely there. It could just as easily be a Pitt game again. We'll beat MD, UNC (the trend continues), ECU, WCU. The 50/50 games will be WFU, UCF, and BC. VT, GT, Clemson and FSU will probably wax us.

EDIT: Actually, in the wake of Bowden leaving, how is FSU looking this season?

I got FSU as my Atlantic favorite, but I'm a Fisher believer. They've had the offense, they've had the defensive talent... now they have order restored w/ the coaching issues resolved. They're just a few years away from a perennial top 10 team again, IMO.

With the tradition powers down the last few years, NC State had its window to make a move in the ACC... We missed, scored an epic fail on that one. Now everyone is getting better (Ga Tech, UNC, FSU, Clemson, Miami... even Duke) and the window has closed.

I'm with you baxter, I'm not... but my point was that I can't assume, or expect, we will win that game. I'm not saying we don't have a chance, so I'm not writing us off completely either. I just see nothing that leads me to be able to objectively mark the Cincy game down as a 'W' at this point.

From a biased fan's perspective, I might be able to put the game as a toss up. Objectively, I see Cincy as at least a 6.5 pts favorite, at least. If Kelly were still their coach, I'd make that 13.5 points.

4-9 maybe 5-7. Noah, maybe Amato couldn't coach but I don't agree with you when you say we have better athletes now than when he was here.

It looks like Nate is going to 100%. Is there any way he will pick up where he left off?

to be honest, broken bones generally heal stronger, what I was concerned with was the shoulder, which appears to have had the most rehab initially and he feels comfortable. He's definitely psyched to hit again. If he has overcome the fear of his injuries, which his little quote about ankles makes me think so, then this guy is ready to go from where he left off.

I hope for the best. I am worried that he will take a lot of time from Manning.
