Maybe a little better title would have have helped this thread?
Interesting comment that they have 20% participation in Greek life while Stafford and Oblinger have managed to crush our Greek system down to about 7% participation.
^We needed more Greek life during the Oblinger years. The sorority girls were starting to feel special. I was about to say elite, but couldn't bare to make the association between "sorority" and "elite".
I feel a little dumber after watching it.
Speaking of sororities, anyone remember the infamous sorostitute column that ran in Technician?
Ah, now that was funny.
From time to time, I like to mention it (I mentioned it in the thread about students rushing the court). I loved how the Greek council protested the day following the article's appearance in the field outside Doak Field and the Technician was there to cover it.
I distinctly remember a picture of one of the organizers stating, "We are all individuals. To treat us as anything other than independent individuals is disrespectful!" In the picture was the organizer standing with two of her friends infront of a huge line of sorority sisters. Every single girl in the picture wore matching shirts (different colors signified different chapters), matching mid-thigh jean skirts, matching "stunna" shades and matching rainbow sandals. If you're going to make a statement like that to a newspaper, and you are there to protest AGAINST said newspaper, make sure your statements don't appear extremely ironic.
My other favorite quote was from one of the chapter presidents saying something to affect of "I don't know why Mr. Underdown thinks we care about what he has to say, anyway. It's not like anyone actually reads the Technician." I'll give the slower people reading this post some time to process all the things ironic and idiotic about that statement given the purpose of their protest.

You shouldn't leave straight lines lying around like that. Someone could get hurt. ;-)

That happened about two weeks after I came to Raleigh to start school. I remember walking by Harris Field headed to dinner and wondering what the heck was going on. Little did I know...
Haha
I understand they gave her 12 credits for a foreign language and 3 credits in the "Theory of Dribbling"!
Let me see her turn that into a marketable job at Walmart!
See, that girl who had that horrible side-effect from the H1N1 vaccine isn't being glorified for having to walk backwards...
Wasn't the anti-christ supposed to talk and write backwards....
Red Rum! Red Rum! Aren't there better stories that ABC can spend money on? I am sure there are student groups out there doing good, newsworthy projects.
Man, she's put on some pork since that snapshot of her in HS!

Human interest stories often are completely inane and simply chosen for weirdness or shock value. Nobody wants to listen to real news, it's boring.

This is a bit off topic, but I would like to point out that was a hoax.
Does anyone remember the Bob Newhart show where he goes to a Mensa meeting? One of the Mensa people Bob meets reverses the names of people to whom he is introduced. Funny stuff.
I WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL WITH THIS GIRL!!!! AHHAHAHAHAH thats so funny. I went to Green Hope High with her and we just graduated this past year. Wow thats so funny to me. I never knew she could do that. kind of a stupid talent.
I have a friend I went to high school with who I now believe is at App State who could do this pretty easily... pretty pointless
